Buchholz is still experiencing pain behind his right shoulder, was shut down completely over the All-Star break after throwing a 25-pitch bullpen session on Sunday and will be re-examined on Friday. With the non-waiver Trade Deadline of July 31 looming, Buchholz's health could play a big role in the Red Sox's actions, but manager John Farrell said Thursday that the team is still hoping Buchholz will get back on the mound in 2013. Buchholz, who was hosting a charity bowling event Thursday night, has pitched just twice since May 22 for a total of 11 2/3 innings. The Sox have given Buchholz anti-inflammatory medicine, since two MRIs have revealed no structural damage. He has been diagnosed at various times in the past five weeks with irritation of the AC joint and a strained trapezius muscle, both of which come into play for a pitcher in his windup and delivery.
