    The Astros optioned struggling middle infielder Marwin Gonzalez to Triple-A Oklahoma City and designated veteran reliever Wade LeBlanc for assignment on Monday. The Astros also designated lefthanded relief pitcher Wade LeBlanc for assignment. The 28-year-old LeBlanc was designated for assignment, so the Astros have 10 days to trade, release or send him outright to the minors. LeBlanc is 1-5 with a 5.50 ERA in 16 major league games this year, including seven starts. With Gonzalez’s demotion, the Astros need a replacement middle infielder. By optioning Gonzalez, who got out to a roaring start in April before struggling to hit above .200 in May and June, the Astros could be making room for shortstop prospect Jonathan Villar. Also on the schedule: seven games against Tampa Bay , three at the American League West-leading Rangers and three more versus an underperforming Los Angeles Angels club that’s still dangerous.
