• Astros trade reliever Travis Blackley to Rangers

    The Houston Astros have traded minor league left-hander pitcher Travis Blackley to the Texas Rangers for cash and a player to be named later. Blackley, whom the Astros acquired from Oakland via trade on April 4 after he had been designated for assignment by the Athletics, was 1-1 with a 4.89 ERA over 42 games this season. The 30-year-old Blackley went 1-1 with a 4.89 ERA in 42 relief appearances for Houston this season before being designated for assignment on Aug. 8. Four of his eight career wins have come against the Rangers. All rights reserved. He cleared waivers and accepted an outright assignment to Triple-A Oklahoma City and joined the RedHawks on Tuesday.
