The deadline to pick up the fifth-year option on Marcell Dareus’ rookie contract was fast approaching, and the Bills not surprisingly have acted. According to Rand Getlin of Yahoo Sports, the Bills have picked up the fifth-year option on defensive tackle Marcell Dareus. The Bills had until May 3 to exercise Dareus' option. If confirmed by the club Dareus will be paid equivalent to the transition tag at his defensive tackle position in 2015, or top 10 money in the league at his position. Under the rules of the collective bargaining agreement, the Bills had the right to exercise his option for the 2015 season at $8.06 million. The decision was a no-brainer, really, giving them another year of security, and time to work on a long-term deal to keep the group intact.
