• Buccaneers bringing in Incognito for a visit, possibly more

    The Buccaneers met with guard Richie Incognito for several hours on Monday night, but the meeting did not end with a contract that would bring Incognito back into the NFL. Incognito was cleared by the NFL to return to the league Monday and met with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers the same day. Coach Lovie Smith recently hinted that, if the team had any interest in Incognito, he already would have been in for a visit. For Incognito, it’s the first serious look he’s gotten since receiving a suspension from the Dolphins that lasted for the balance of the 2013 season. A league investigation determined that Incognito, then with the Miami Dolphins , engaged in persistent harassment of teammate Jonathan Martin , as well as other teammates and a member of the Dolphins' staff. Earlier this year, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said the three players named in the league's investigation into the Dolphins bullying scandal must be evaluated by "medical professionals" and complete treatment before they will be allowed to return to the playing field.
