Bucs quarterback coach Ron Turner, a former Illinois coach and a veteran NFL assistant, was hired as head coach at Florida International on Thursday. Since then, Turner has had two stints as offensive coordinator with the Chicago Bears and has worked for the Colts and Bucs. Turner, 59, served only one season under Bucs coach Greg Schiano, who now has two openings on his coaching staff. Receivers coach P.J.  Bucs coach Greg Schiano asked for permission to hire him as his offensive coordinator last year, but was denied.
