• Bulls guard Butler to have MRI on injured toe

    Chicago Bulls guard Jimmy Butler did not practice Tuesday and is scheduled to undergo an MRI because of a right toe injury, according to coach Tom Thibodeau. Butler, who injured his toe during Monday night's win over the Charlotte Bobcats, had X-rays on the toe that came back negative. Bulls guard Derrick Rose knows that his team would take a hit if Butler were lost for an extended amount of time. The Bulls have won five straight after a 1-3 start. Butler, 24, is averaging 11.2 points, 4.8 rebounds and 1.8 steals all career highs in nine games this season. Butler ran a 4.65 40-time, had a 30.5 inch vertical leap and had a 7.09 second three-cone time. He also broad jumped 10 feet. They open the trip at Denver on Thursday, followed by games at Portland, the Los Angeles Clippers, Utah, Detroit and Cleveland before hosting New Orleans on Dec. 2.
