    Summary of 12 articles · Updated Mar 12, 2014
Many believe offensive tackle Austin Howard could be next in line for a new contract. Austin Howard, unable to get a deal done with the Jets before free agency, will visit the Oakland Raiders . Howard has started 16 games each of the last two seasons, all at right tackle, for the New York Jets since winning the job in the 2012 training camp. That said, there was a tail-off in the play at the end of the season from Howard, so are the Jets balking at a deal too big or too long? The Jets might wind up signing Howard all the same in the name of continuity, but what seemed like a very likely return for Howard is now starting to take on more uncertainty… Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News reports that the Raiders have a deal in place for Howard, who started every game in 2012 and 2013 at right tackle for the Jets. The Jets have failed to make the playoffs since the 2010 season when they lost to the Pittsburgh Steelers in the AFC Championship. Right tackles don’t break the bank the way their counterparts on the left side of the line do, but their value has risen in the last couple of years as teams do all they can to secure strong blocking across their entire frontline.
