The Philadelphia Eagles have claimed running back William Powell off waivers a day after he was let go by the Arizona Cardinals. The Eagles have waived running back William Powell after he failed his physical, the club said Friday. The Eagles are already deep at running back, so it's unlikely Powell will make the team. The Eagles claimed ex-Cardinals RB William Powell off waivers on Wednesday, cutting WR Nick Miller in a corresponding roster move. Powell, a 25-year-old Kansas State product, amassed 59 carries last season, caught 19 passes, and sometimes served as the team’s kickoff return specialist. He earned a spot on the Cardinals active roster last year and appeared in 13 games for the team while making one start. In the spring, a few veteran Eagles safeties said that they would have less to do with stopping the run than they did in the previous two seasons playing behind Jim Washburn's wide-nine defensive front.
