The Cowboys and owner Jerry Jones acknowledge for the first time that Jay Ratliff may not be able to open the regular season in two weeks. Ratliff has not taken part in any team drills with the Cowboys in nearly 10 months. Ratliff’s season came to a premature end in 2012 with a hernia surgery. “We’re not ready, and he’s not ready, at this juncture to get out there,’’ Jones said. While he currently sits on the team’s physically unable to perform list, club officials have continually expressed the belief that he would be on the field against the New York Giants on Sept. 8.
