Restricted free-agent wide receiver Danario Alexander signed his contract tender with the San Diego Chargers on Thursday, the team announced. The 24-year-old Alexander, who signed with the Chargers in October last year, tied for the team lead with seven touchdowns, which was the third most by an NFL player last season after Nov. 1. After joining the club in October, the 24-year-old Alexander caught 37 passes for 658 yards and seven touchdowns in 10 games for San Diego in 2012. Smith, who was released by the Green Bay Packers on Wednesday, signed with the Chargers, his agent confirmed on Twitter. However, as is often the case in restricted free agency, nothing materialized, though the Browns did “internally” talk about the prospect of an offer sheet for the wide receiver, Adam Caplan of TheSidelineView.com reported Thursday.
