Cox's benching was the second in as many weeks. The Chargers waited until the third quarter last week to bench Derek Cox. McCoy was asked about the benching, a decision about which defensive backs coach Ron Milus initially informed Cox. "I look myself in the mirror," Cox said Monday. "I've got to make that play." The Chargers signed Cox to a four-year, $20 million contract during the offseason, expecting him to develop int the team’s top cornerback. He finished with just a tackle, but played physical coverage against Denver receiver Eric Decker late in the game, forcing an incompletion on third down that allowed the Chargers to get the ball back with a chance to tie the game.
