• Derek Jeter moves into sixth place on all-time hits list

    Summary of 2 articles · Updated Aug 9, 2014
Only five players in MLB history have accumulated more career hits than New York Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter. ''I try not to think about it but today, Honus Wagner, he's the last one on the list that has played short at all - so that one hits home a little bit,'' Jeter said. The hit was of the infield variety, which was obviously more common in Jeter's younger, healthier days. We all just envision milestone hits being a little more clean cut than that. Indians shortstop Jose Ramirez had to field the ball while moving to his left before spinning and making an off balance throw to first base.
