So far for Scott Diamond, there has been no sophomore slump. David Ortiz got one of the hits off Diamond, a leadoff single in the second that stretched his hitting streak to 27 games, a run that began before he sustained a season-ending injury in August. And so far, he's doing just that in the early going despite starting the year on the 15-day disabled list after having a bone chip removed from his left elbow in December.
