• Dodgers leave RP League off NLDS roster

    Summary of 8 articles · Updated Oct 4, 2013
The Los Angeles Dodgers left veteran reliever Brandon League off their 25-man roster for the NLDS series against the Atlanta Braves that begins Thursday night. The Cubs finally beat Atlanta in five games in the 2003 NLDS, but they lost to the Marlins in the NLCS. They lost World Series in 1910, '18, '29, '32, '35, '38 and '45, the NL Championship Series in '84 and '89, and the NLDS in '98. Gordon, one of the fastest players in the league, could be a weapon for the Dodgers as a pinch runner. In a postseason already marked by defensive miscues all over the place, including shaky plays by the Braves in Game 1, Atlanta's defense came through by turning three double plays none more crucial than the one Avilan started in the seventh to escape the inning with a 2-1 lead intact.
