    Summary of 59 articles · Updated Feb 27, 2013
Manti Te'o said all the right things. The Manti Te’o news conference will be regarded as the media highlight of this NFL scouting combine. Most of the media is on Manti Te'o watch this afternoon, but the annual combine continues with the first on-field workouts and press interviews with defensive linemen and linebackers. Manti Te'o went through workouts at the NFL scouting combine at Lucas Oil Stadium with the linebackers group Monday afternoon, and ran the 40-yard dash in 4.82 seconds. Now you have a situation where you have a guy who was in a relationship with a fake girl who ended up being a real man, and the man has said to Dr. Phil that he was romantically in love with Manti Te'o, it just raises a lot of questions that the NFL at some point is going to have to deal with. With Ronaiah Tuiasosopo admitting to Dr. Phil that Tuiasosopo was in love with Te’o, the unanswered question became whether Te’o had any inkling that he, too, was in love with a man. It shouldn’t matter.  Other sports have either combines or private workouts, but basing the first contract of an athlete’s career mostly on his televised showing in an arena two months before the draft commences feels odd in a way that doesn’t seem comparable to, say, judging a draftee’s prospects in June based on his showing on CBS during the Sweet Sixteen round of the NCAA basketball tournament.
