The Mets were hitting .191 in the seven games before the start of the weekend series with the Braves, so they could use a serious jolt for their offense, especially among their outfielders. They called up Andrew Brown from Class AAA Las Vegas and immediately put him in the lineup to hit eighth and play right field against the Atlanta left-hander Mike Minor on Friday night. Currently in his seventh professional season, Brown cracked the Majors each of the past two summers with the Cardinals and Rockies, respectively, appearing in a total of 57 games.
