    Padres president and CEO Tom Garfinkel resigned from his post on Tuesday. Garfinkel was named president and COO of the Padres in April 2009 and was promoted to CEO in April 2012. The press release thanked Garfinkel for "Tom's many contributions to the Padres over the last four years." Fowler was not immediately available for further comment on Garfinkel's departure. Garfinkel remained on board when the team was sold to a group including Seidler, a nephew of former Dodgers owner Peter O'Malley. He was brought to San Diego by former Padres vice chairman and CEO Jeff Moorad. The Padres announced the news with a news release and said that lead investor Peter Seidler and executive chairman Ron Fowler accepted the resignation.
