    Detroit Tigers slugger Miguel Cabrera said he'll undergo surgery Tuesday in Philadelphia to repair a tear in his groin that limited his effectiveness during the playoffs. Cabrera has a Grade 2 or Grade 3 groin tear, Tigers president and general manager Dave Dombrowski revealed last week. The Tigers confirmed the news Sunday night, according to multiple reports. The operation was performed by Philadelphia-based surgeon Dr. Willaim Meyers, who also examined Cabrera prior to the start of the postseason. "He felt he wasn't going to be shut down, and in fact we had to assure him when he went to see Dr. Meyers prior to the postseason, we gave him the guarantee, as Dr. Meyers did, that he wouldn't be shut down under any circumstances," Dombrowski said.
