Less than a week after Courtney Upshaw acknowledged that he weighed 285 pounds, Ravens coach John Harbaugh said that the second-year linebacker has to improve his eating habits in order to reach his full potential. “My first thought is that he is playing pretty well,” Harbaugh said of Upshaw. “That’s my first thought. I'm working real hard," Upshaw said Thursday. As a rookie, Upshaw encountered similar issues. The 6-foot-2 Upshaw wasn’t exactly skinny during his rookie season, when he was playing at 270 pounds, and he now says he weighs about 285. “He’s working really hard, [but] Courtney’s weight issue – which he does need to lose some pounds – is that he doesn’t eat right,” Harbaugh told the Carroll County Times. Though the Ravens signed Elvis Dumervil this offseason to play outside linebacker opposite Terrell Suggs, team officials still anticipate Uphaw playing a key role on the overhauled defense.
