• Haren, Nationals shut out slumping Brewers

    Summary of 2 articles · Updated Aug 3, 2013
Prior to that, Haren had not won a game in more than two months as the Nationals had lost his previous 11 starts. Dan Haren pitched seven strong innings and Adam LaRoche and Wilson Ramos hit home runs to lead the Washington Nationals to a 3-0 win over the Milwaukee Brewers on Saturday. The first inning was the only time Milwaukee mounted any serious threat against Haren. The Nationals took a 1-0 lead in the second inning. Tyler Clippard and Rafael Soriano blanked the Brewers the rest of the way with Soriano picking up his 28th save. LaRoche broke out of his hitting slump in a big way in the sixth inning, lining a pitch over the leftfield wall for his 15th home run of the season to give Washington a 3-0 lead.
