The NFL has fined Texans defensive end Jared Crick $15,750 for a roughing the passer foul committed against Chiefs quarterback Alex Smith in Houston’s 17-16 loss at Kansas City on Sunday, the league confirmed to PFT. Crick was penalized and fined for hitting Smith below his left knee after the quarterback threw a wide receiver screen in the first quarter. The league confirmed to PFT that Orakpo has been fined $15,750 for the play, which saw him hit McCown high and then drive him to the ground. Tarik El-Bashir of CSN Washington reports that Orakpo plans to appeal the fine, although video of the play and the NFL’s history on these matters don’t do much to help his chances of getting the penalty thrown out.
