Ubaldo Jimenez and Jason Kubel became free agents on Friday when Jimenez exercised his right to void the final year of his contract and the Indians declined their option on Kubel's deal. Kubel is a nine-year Major League veteran who spent his first seven seasons with Minnesota. Jimenez went 4-0 in September with a 1.09 ERA. Cleveland's deadline to make Jimenez a $14.1 million qualifying offer is 5 p.m. ET on Monday. Jimenez went 13-9 with a 3.30 ERA this season, an impressive rebound from 2012, when he went 9-17 with a 5.40 ERA. The 29-year-old right-hander was Cleveland's most consistent pitcher in the second half of the season, helping the Indians clinch their first playoff spot since 2007.
