Webster suffered a right thumb injury in the Broncos' 27-20 loss and will have surgery Friday to repair it. Webster's injury did not become apparent until after Fox's postgame press conference Thursday, and the coach is optimistic that Webster won't miss much time. Fox said he believed Webster battled through the night and continued to play almost a half after suffering the injury. He was playing for injured cornerback Champ Bailey, who missed his 11th game of the season with a left foot injury. That's become Fox's refrain of late no excuses for injuries but on Thursday, those injuries were very much apparent, with Wes Welker out in addition to the slew of defensive players sidelined for the Broncos' 27-20 loss to the San Diego Chargers.
