• Kobe Bryant announces via Facebook that he will return to Lakers on Sunday vs. Raptors

After raising the possibility earlier this week, Kobe Bryant and the Los Angeles Lakers made it official on Friday afternoon Bryant will return to the L.A. On Sunday night at the Staples Center at 9:30 pm EST on NBA TV, Kobe Bryant will be back on the court for his beloved Lakers to take on the visiting Raptors, the same team he scored 81 points against on that incredible day in January, 2006. That's still in play today, as he makes his return from the injury that threatened to end his career or at the very least, end the version of Kobe Bryant that we had watched for 17 seasons. We make an exception for him. Bryant began his 18th NBA season by going 2 for 9 with four assists and eight turnovers in 28 minutes. Through the changing of the seasons, through each and every era, there's just one constant; he wears No. 24, he'll be here for another couple of years, and he's coming back against that team he once legendarily torched to the tune of 81. All that's missing is a cape. Or, better yet, a mask.
