    Rookie Phillip Thomas, the Redskins 4th round pick in the 2013 NFL Draft, will be placed on injured reserve after suffering a Lisfranc injury in his left foot. Coach Mike Shanahan announced on Tuesday afternoon that safety Phillip Thomas will be placed on injured reserve after doctors found a torn Lisfranc ligament in his left foot. On Saturday, Shanahan said initial X-rays had ruled out a fracture as well as a Lisfranc tear. The loss of Thomas makes a healthy season from Brandon Meriweather all the more important for the Redskins. Because of that, it would not have been a stretch to see him work his way into the lineup, especially since Meriweather is coming off a torn ACL last season and has been limited much of camp.
