• Lucas Helps Marlins Beat Phils 5-4 in 11 Innings

    Summary of 2 articles · Updated Jul 1, 2014
The Phils lost their fifth game in a row. Ed Lucas' single scored the winning run from second base with one out in the 11th inning Tuesday night and the Miami Marlins broke a four-game losing streak by beating the Philadelphia Phillies 5-4. But it didn't seem like July was going to get off to a better start, as another one of those mental mistakes by the Marlins allowed a run to score in the first inning. The Marlins' Giancarlo Stanton singled home a run to increase his RBI total to 61, which leads the NL. Manager Mike Redmond said after Sunday's game that his players needed to put mental errors behind them if they were going to bounce back from their unlucky June.
