    Former Braves pitchers Greg Maddux and Tom Glavine, each a 300-game winner, head a ballot stacked with superstar newcomers that will be studied by eligible members of the Baseball Writers' Association of America for the next month. Most notably among the first-timers are pitchers Greg Maddux and Tom Glavine as well as slugger Frank Thomas. Four-time Cy Young Award winner Greg Maddux, two-time winner Tom Glavine and two-time AL MVP Frank Thomas are among 19 newcomers on this year’s ballot, joining steroid-tainted holdovers Barry Bonds, Mark McGwire and Sammy Sosa. If Maddux didn't make it as a first-balloter, however, it would be a surprise. Other notable former Astros that will be on this year’s ballot include Roger Clemens, who pitched for the Astros from 2004-06, Moises Alou and Jeff Kent . Mike Mussina, Hideo Nomo, Kenny Rogers, Jeff Kent, Moises Alou and Luis Gonzalez also are among the players eligible to be voted on for the first time by the Baseball Writers' Association of America.
