    Mark Appel knows who the Astros are. Mark Appel is going home to Houston. The Astros selected Appel with the No. 1 overall pick in Thursday’s 2013 MLB amateur draft. Appel went right back to Stanford and right back into the Draft, and his decision paid off Thursday when Houston called his name. Ultimately, the Astros went with Appel, who they could have picked No. 1 overall a year ago, but skipped in favor of shortshop Carlos Correa. Appel’s represented by power agent Scott Boras, who told the Houston Chronicle last Saturday he didn’t plan to overvalue his client during negotiations. "I talked to him and told him: `Welcome home,"' Astros general manager Jeff Luhnow said.
