• Marlins add evaluator Berger to front office

    The Marlins have made another addition to their restructured front office, hiring personnel evaluator Mike Berger, who spent the past five seasons with the D-backs. In Arizona, Berger worked as a special assistant to the general manager and Major League scout. In addition to Berger, the Marlins recently hired Craig Weissmann, formerly with the A's, now Miami's vice president of player personnel. Coming off a 62-100 season, the Marlins have reworked their front office. McAvoy joins the Marlins after spending the past four years with the Rays. A year later he was named Arizona's director of pro scouting, charged with overseeing the organization's scouting at the Major League and Minor League levels.
