    Moore is staying with the Dolphins, as their backup and with the understanding he will not be the starter barring bad circumstances after he agreed to a contract with Miami late Thursday evening, according to NFL.com. Let's face it, Moore isn't on the team to start. He's a solid backup. He's great in the locker room. Matt Moore wanted a chance to compete for a starting quarterback job so he intended to test free agency. So in the end, Moore took the bird in hand rather than try for a starting job that he’d have had to fight for. This does, however, make it less likely that David Garrard – another Jets target and someone who said yesterday that he’d be open to a return – will re-sign with the Dolphins. And it almost suggests that someone might have communicated to him that there wasn’t a starting job out there for him, though tampering doesn’t start until midnight which would make that illegal.
