    With the Mavs' frontcourt depleted by injuries, Curry started Friday night against the Charlotte Bobcats, a day after Dallas claimed the veteran big man off waivers. The Mavericks claimed Curry off waivers Thursday after San Antonio cut him and he was in the starting lineup a day after being picked up. The 7-foot Curry, who is listed at 295 pounds, said he wasn't sure what he weighed after the Mavs' morning shootaround. Curry's addition comes at a time when Dallas' frontcourt is short-handed because of injuries. Center Chris Kaman has a strained right calf that puts his status for Tuesday's season opener in doubt. Power forward Dirk Nowitzki will be sidelined for at least the first couple of weeks of the season while recovering from arthroscopic knee surgery.
