NBA TV's The Association: Brooklyn Nets debuts on Tuesday, Oct. 16 at 10 p.m. The Nets are also the stars of NBA TV’s “The Association,” a behind-the-scenes series that debuts Tuesday night. Now, the Nets seem a perfect fit for Brooklyn and the borough once again has a team to call its own. NBA TV cameras take viewers behind the scenes with perennial All-Stars Deron Williams and Joe Johnson, the prominent faces of the new team; Head Coach Avery Johnson, one of the most compelling underdog stories in the NBA's recent past; and General Manager Billy King, the man who's made it his mission to rebuild the team in time for its Brooklyn debut. The Sports Illustrated story, by Rick Telander, is as much an ode to Brooklyn basketball as it is about the Nets; Telander first explored the borough’s basketball culture in his 1974 book, “Heaven is a Playground.” “It’s been above and beyond what any of us expected,” General Manager Billy King said of the publicity, “but it’s been great. It’s been a great launch.”
