New Orleans Saints offensive coordinator Pete Carmichael is expected to turn down requests to interview for the same job with both the Jacksonville Jaguars and Philadelphia Eagles, according to a league source. Earlier on Thursday there was a report that the Jaguars have requested permission to interview Saints offensive coordinator Pete Carmichael for the same role on new coach Gus Bradley’s staff. Carmichael doesn’t have a contract for next year, although this year’s contract hasn’t run out which is why he’d need permission from New Orleans to interview for what would be a lateral move. If Carmichael wants to ultimately be a head coach, which choice would offer the best path? More of the same or something different? I think if he chooses the Jaguars and leads an improved offense, it could further round out his resume. Holder also reports that he’ll turn down an interview request from the Eagles, although we haven’t heard of any formal request being made before or after Chip Kelly was hired as the head coach. Last week, general manager Mickey Loomis said the team had made offers to retain all of the assistant coaches whose contracts had expired.
