So Foles and Barkley are right that they can beat out Vick. Michael Vick and Nick Foles are battling for the Philadelphia Eagles' starting quarterback job, but rookie Matt Barkley also has a chance to be the No. 1 quarterback and he's refusing to be counted out. Nick Foles and Matt Barkley reported to Eagles training camp Monday eager to face the Chip Kelly quarterback challenge, they said. He has made Vick into something he's never really been before: one of the guys. Foles said there is no leader at this point, but he expressed his confidence that he can be the starter. He only went 1-5 as a starter, but he gained valuable experience and the team declined to deal him this offseason because of optimism about Foles' future. Of course, we're a long way from such a scenario becoming reality, but new coach Chip Kelly had to be happy that there was no implied threat in Vick's response - no "I want to play," or "I know I can be a starting quarterback in this league." Just a vow to help.
