    Steve Pearce had three hits and two RBIs in his return to the Orioles, and Baltimore beat the skidding Pittsburgh Pirates 5-1 Thursday in a doubleheader opener. The Orioles won Game 1 of tonight’s back-to-back doubleheader 5-1, getting to starter Charlie Morton in a three-run fifth inning. BALTIMORE – After two days of rainouts, the Pirates and Orioles finally played ball on Thursday. Pearce singled in a run in the sixth, and Markakis hit his first homer of the season in the seventh for a 5-1 lead. The club took an early 1-0 lead, but the Orioles returned from a 21 minute rain delay to load the bases in the fifth, and go up 3-1 on back-to-back singles while batting around the order. Davis' oblique injury made the club's interest deepen, and Pearce saw the opportunity to contribute for an organization for which he has loved playing, signing up for a third go-round with the O's, who were able to forgo a 30-day wait period because they already had an open roster spot.
