Freddy Garcia and the San Diego Padres have agreed to a minor league contract that includes an invitation to spring training. Garcia was 7-6 with a 5.20 ERA in 30 games, 17 starts, for the New York Yankees last year. Adding to their pitching depth in advance of Spring Training, the Padres on Tuesday signed three players to Minor League contracts. The Padres also signed right-hander Tim Stauffer and lefty Arturo Lopez to minor league deals, inviting both pitchers to spring training. Stauffer, 30, was San Diego's opening-day starter last year before missing the rest of the season with an elbow injury.
