    The Carolina Panthers? improved defensive line took a hit Tuesday when veteran defensive tackle Ron Edwards was lost for the season with a dislocated left elbow. Panthers coach Ron Rivera just said Edwards was going on injured reserve after dislocating his elbow in last night’s win over the Eagles. Coach Ron Rivera says the Panthers have placed starting defensive tackle Ron Edwards on injured reserve with a dislocated left elbow and running back Jonathan Stewart could miss some time with a high ankle sprain. The Panthers will place Edwards on injured reserve and activate defensive tackle Frank Kearse from the practice squad, coach Ron Rivera said. The 33-year-old Edwards missed all of last season with a torn triceps suffered in training camp, but came back and formed an acceptable partnership with Dwan Edwards inside, allowing the Panthers to make some strides, particularly with their pass rush. Edwards was injured during the 30-22 win at Philadelphia on Monday night, and will need a minimum of four to six weeks to heal.
