Longtime guard Brian Waters is officially done with the Patriots. Though Waters might have played for a team in Texas, close to his home and his family, the Patriots refused to release Waters from his contract. Without Waters, the Patriots had to change their plans for the offensive line last year. The Patriots have released offensive lineman Brian Waters, according to the NFL transaction wire Tuesday. Waters, signed by the team just days before the 2011 regular season, is now a free agent and can sign with any team if he chooses to continue his career. The daily NFL transactions list that was circulated to the media on Tuesday included a note that Waters had been terminated from the Patriots’ reserve/did not report list. But he reportedly wanted a raise that the Patriots weren’t willing to give him in 2012, and he never reported to the team.
