• Pierzynski at DH for Darvish start after flare-up

    "Darvish and I are fine," Pierzynski said. "That's it. There's nothing else to it. But Pierzynski has been behind the plate when Darvish came within an out of a perfect game in Houston in the second game of the season. Pierzynski said he and manager Ron Washington have discussed giving the veteran catcher a few days at DH in the final 20 games of the season. Washington said no matter who he has catch Darvish, he's confident. Winning with Darvish on the mound would help, but the Rangers are winless in his last five starts even though he allowed one run on four hits and a walk with six strikeouts Monday. What does appear to be serious is the Rangers are struggling to snap out of their slump as they enter the final three weeks of the season and try to stay within reach of the first-place Athletics.
