Pink penalty flags won’t return next weekendLast year, the league had the referees in a Dolphins-Jets game use pink penalty flags and they extended it to the entire league on Sunday. The NFL won't use the pink penalty flags beyond Monday night's Jets-Falcons game. Coupled with the players' pink equipment, especially their gloves and towels, the flags caused confusion among broadcasters, fans, players and coaches Sunday. Given all of the other pink on uniforms, around the field and on television graphics, it made it hard to see when a flag was down. Other elements of the campaign, including pink equipment, coins and goal-post padding will remain. Signora also said that the other parts of the league’s initiative, which includes goal-post padding and assorted apparel among other things, will remain in place through Week Seven.
