The Nashville Predators hired Peter Laviolette as their new head coach Tuesday. Nashville Predators coach Peter Laviolette already has brought the Stanley Cup to the South before and is eager to try to do it again. They team also announced Kevin McCarthy has been hired as an assistant on Laviolette's staff. A Stanley-Cup winning coach with the Carolina Hurricanes in 2006, Laviolette will replace Barry Trotz, who parted ways with the Predators last month after serving as the only head coach in franchise history. Laviolette's arrival marks a new era for a franchise that had been coached by Barry Trotz for its first 15 seasons of existence. Trotz was fired last month.
