PHILADELPHIA - Friday night was supposed to be mostly about Ryan Mallett. He was expected to play the bulk of the snaps at quarterback for the Patriots. After Tom Brady exited the game after two series and 16 snaps, Mallett was in the game with 3:12 left in the first quarter. He was doing reasonably well, completing nine of 18 passes for 97 yards and twice getting the Patriots within field goal range when a second-down completion to Julian Edelman ended with Mallett laying prone on the grass. The third-year quarterback was tended to by team medical staff and replaced by Tim Tebow; though he remained on the sideline for the remainder of the game, Mallett did not re-enter.
