Ravens tight end Ed Dickson signing restricted tender today

Ravens veteran tight end Ed Dickson is signing his original round restricted free agent tender today. Tight end Ed Dickson is part of that group, so it’s not a huge surprise to see the Ravens’ announcement that Dickson has signed his tender. Dennis Pitta, who signed his own restricted free agent tender earlier this month, will again be the team’s lead tight end, but the loss of Anquan Boldin could lead to a bigger role for Dickson on the offense this season. Dickson is a former third-round draft pick from Oregon who was assigned a $1.323 million tender. Like fellow Ravens restricted free agent tight end Dennis Pitta and defensive lineman Arthur Jones, Dickson didn't garner contract proposals from other NFL teams prior to the league deadline to submit offer sheets. With the Ravens losing Anquan Boldin via a trade to the San Francisco 49ers this offseason, the Ravens could rely on their tight end tandem even more this fall. If it does, he’ll be in line for a bigger contract after the season when he’s set to become an unrestricted free agent and the Ravens probably won’t have to dip into the veteran wide receiver market for help in the passing game.
