Jim Caldwell isn’t making any secret that he’d love to coach the Lions. It's been reported that Baltimore Ravens offensive coordinator Jim Caldwell was going to meet with the Washington Redskins and Detroit Lions . Baltimore Ravens offensive coordinator Jim Caldwell will interview for the head coaching position with the Detroit Lions, a league source told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter. After being fired, Caldwell went to Baltimore and was quarterbacks coach for most of 2012 before being promoted to offensive coordinator toward the end of the regular season. If the Lions interview Caldwell, he would fulfill requirements for the NFLs Rooney Rule, which mandates that teams must interview a minority candidate for a head coaching job. The first formal candidate for the vacant Detroit Lions head coaching job has an interview set up. His extensive background with quarterbacks could be a huge asset with either Washington or Detroit, given their significant investments in Robert Griffin III and Matthew Stafford, respectively franchise quarterbacks who flopped in 2012.
