    It’s no secret that Jets coach Rex Ryan’s future is on the line this year. In his first two seasons as the Jets’ coach, Rex Ryan was involved in many aspects of the defense. He scaled back in his third season as head coach, letting Mike Pettine have more control. “I’m going to go back to doing what I do, and that’s teach and coach primarily on defense,” Ryan said. But he also said that a return to his roots isn’t a result of not trusting new defensive coordinator and longtime friend Dennis Thurman, who replaced Mike Pettine this offseason.
