Former New Orleans Saints center Jonathan Goodwin took a free-agent visit with his former team as he spent Wednesday with the Saints, according to a league source. According to Mike Triplett of ESPN.com, the Saints brought veteran center Jonathan Goodwin in for a visit today, making a reunion possible. The Saints have been in the market for a veteran center throughout the offseason, and Goodwin makes too much sense for New Orleans. Goodwin, 35, served as the Saints starting center from 2008-2010 after being a backup in New Orleans the previous two seasons. Center Brian de la Puente became the eventual starter in 2011 thanks to the departure of Goodwin. As of now, second-year offensive lineman Tim Lelito would be the Saints starting center. Saints coach Sean Payton said he feels Lelito has potential to become the starter, but the team wanted to bring in competition for Lelito either in free agency or the draft.
