The Patriots announced that right tackle Sebastian Vollmer missed practice for the second straight day. Tackle Sebastian Vollmer was back on the field after missing Wednesday and Thursday; however, in the past, if a player does not practice on Thursday for the Patriots, he does not play in the game. Should Vollmer make a quick recovery, Cannon said he'll be ready to go in any spot that the team asks him to handle. Starting New England Patriots right tackle Sebastian Vollmer did not participate in practice for the second straight day, putting his status in doubt for Sunday night’s game against the Atlanta Falcons Vollmer has a sprained foot, according to the Boston Herald, which reported it wasn’t expected to keep Vollmer sidelined for an extended period of time. No change to the Patriots injury report on Thursday, with right tackle Sebastian Vollmer and receiver Matthew Slater the only players not practicing. Vollmer left Sunday's game with a foot injury, and because he has yet to practice this week, it's extremely unlikely that he'll play in Sunday night's game at Atlanta. By that standard, it still seems unlikely Vollmer will suit up against the Falcons, and Marcus Cannon remains in line to make his second career start. It’s hardly a nightmare scenario for the Pats as Cannon has handled himself well when called upon in the last couple of years and is probably a preferable option to a hobbled Vollmer risking further injury.
