The San Jose Sharks have agreed to three-year contract extensions with top forwards Patrick Marleau and Joe Thornton, according to ESPN's Pierre LeBrun. The commitment wasn’t onerous three years apiece definitely weighs in the team’s favor but more importantly, there’s apparently no one available, either in the Sharks’ system or in free agency next summer, who can do more for this team than Thornton and Marleau. Kevin Kurz of CSN Bay Area reports that Thornton wanted to wait for Marleau, who acted a his own agent, to agree to his own deal before signing one himself. Marleau, who will represent Canada at next month's Sochi Olympics, is third with 47 points on 21 goals and 26 assists.
