Sources are skeptical that Ratliff will be able to return in the next few days. Jay Ratliff is expected to work out with the Cowboys early next week to determine if he’s healthy enough to resume practice, but club officials are not optimistic, sources said. Coach Jason Garrett said it is "hard to determine," whether Ratliff is days or weeks away from returning to the field. But until coaches and trainers are able to watch Ratliff workout and assess for themselves his level of conditioning, the Cowboys have no intention of activating him. He made cryptic comments about the club’s respected strength and conditioning staff a few days before the start of the season and has only occasionally been seen at the practice facility over the last five weeks.
